James Hardie Building Products Hiring for New Product Innovation Finance Leader Job at Chicago, IL Full Time

The New Product Innovation Finance Leader is responsible for forward-looking business partnership to drive achievement of goals and objectives of the North America James Hardie Building Products business. This role will serve as a key business partner to the Innovation and Commercialization teams, partnering to lead the financial planning and analytics on market-driven innovation of new product offerings and platforms. This highly cross-functional role is responsible for driving delivery of business objectives and establishing global best practices and spans both project-related and ongoing operational goals. The individual will be expected to be the finance subject matter expert and provide financial oversight on all innovation efforts, drive policy and establish a financial framework to measure success. The ideal candidate will offer a strategic perspecive, sound buinsess judgement, proven ability to influence and project manage, and a highly cross-funcational working style.

Position Responsibilities

Establish the finance framework for new product development and market-driven innovation (50%)

• Lead evaluation of market opportunities and strategies that deliver market-driven innovation that moves our portfolio into long-term growth areas. This includes identification and quantification of risks and opportunities.
• Create and own financial models and company policies for new product innovation as a key growth enabler that integrate with the best practices and processes of the existing business
• Drive coordination across finance organization to ensure functional alignment within sales, marketing, manufacturing, supply chain and controllership

Partner cross-functionally to drive business performance and NPI commercialization (30%)

• Serve as key finance partner to North America R&D and Commercialization teams to deliver the strategy of penetrating and driving profitable growth in new segments
• Support development and publication of reporting and analytics that measure effectiveness of commercial investment and vitality of new product solutions
• Establish operational targets and evaluate ongoing financial performance including recommending adjustments as required to management
• Support analysis from research and concept feasibility to development and commercialization

Ad Hoc Analysis and Partnership (20%)

• Contribute to other aspects of Innovation and Commercialization, as directed by team leadership
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of data used by the business including leveraging internal subject matter experts, to develop projections and models

• Experience in multiple, cross-functional Finance process areas
• Well-rounded interpersonal skill set with the capacity to build relationships across all teams and levels

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
• Commitment to producing high-quality, cutting-edge deliverables
• Exceptional consulting and communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization
• Experience implementing and leading processes to encourage a smooth operating rhythm
• Ability to influence leadership and lead the way when met with resistance

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Strategy or another quantitiative discipline, with MBA preferred
• 8+ years of applicable and progressive experience
• Proven results in change management and continuous improvement environment
• Expert level in Excel and Powerpoint
• Experience in a large business unit within a sophisticated, global, public company environment, preferably with market-driven innovation and insights
