Postal Operations who are part CSPB and who in turn are part of the HR Function work together with Courier & Freight Operations to help provide a daily and comprehensive inter site postal delivery and collection service for the business. Deliveries and collections include many items of mail which can include legal correspondence, prototype parts and parcels.
Postal Operations assist the Courier and Freight department wherever possible by carrying out collections and deliveries therefore avoiding any additional external transportation costs to the business.
The successful applicant will work with the Postal Supervisor based at our Whitley site working a regular Day Shift, Monday – Friday 44 hours per week.
The successful candidate would be given training over a number of weeks to enable them to carry out their duties.
There will also be a need to be flexible and be able to work at other sites as and when required to do so covering holidays and absence.
As the Postal, Courier and Freight Operations you’ll be responsible for:
- Receive and sort Royal Mail post and internal post on a daily basis
- Carry out security checks on mail as required.
- Sorting post by Mail Drop Codes
- Use computer database to identify recipients of poorly addressed mail items
- Transport goods between Business and external sites
- Distributing and collecting mail. Sorting internal items and preparing external items for Royal Mail collection
- Ensure that only authorised mail is sent through company mail services
- Monitor, by Track and Trace, high value or important Business items, both inbound and outbound
- Maintain administrative records, and create daily weekly and monthly activity logs and s.
- Provide support at all Jaguar Land Rover sites as and when required
- Royal Mail OBA – Creating a daily invoice for Royal Mail usage
- To carry out domestic Courier and Freight Collections avoiding extra cost to the business wherever possible
- When transporting Courier items to Solihull making sure that all DHL and Fedex Airway Bills are attached to the correct boxes and that they are ready for onward shipment from site.
- To be able to advise customers on any Postal, Courier or Freight Operational processes or procedures.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
You’ll join us with knowledge of Postal Operational processes and Royal Mail services including Royal Mail OBA and Royal Mail click and drop is preferred but not essential as this will be covered in the training that will be given.
Good people skills will be required and there will be a need to work and interact with all levels of the business, as well as external customers and suppliers / partners.
You’ll have the ability to work effectively as part of a small team is vital and be able to use their own initiative when needed to do so.
Ideally, you’ll be competent in IT, especially the use of the latest Microsoft Operating computer systems used within JLR are preferable.
A valid full vehicle driving licence and a Company Driving Permit is essential.
