Supply Chain Management (SCM) sits within the Global Customer Service Division of Marketing Sales & Service (MS&S). Supporting an annual global revenue of c £1.5 billion the SCM Organisation makes a substantial contribution to Company profits, ensuring the availability of After-market parts and accessories for the global Jaguar and Land Rover sales network.

Working within the JLR Supply Team you will have the responsibility for ensuring best-in-class parts availability from our supply base into our central warehouses, for onward distribution to the JLR global logistics and retailer network. The role drives at the heart of JLR’s ‘Customer First’ principles which is crucial to achieving serviceability, costs of ownership and customer retention for our two brands.

Jaguar Land Rover is transforming to scale both our business and IT operations for future growth. In this key role of Lead Planner, you will also support the Transformation Programme by ensuring a smooth implementation of the Supplier Network Collaboration (SNC) module of SAP across the Supply Base and Planning teams.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Manage a Team of Material Planners
  • To achieve departmental key metrics (availability, back orders, SDPR, ETA coverage on back orders and low stock parts).
  • Conduct mid and year end performance reviews in accordance with JLR documents/processes.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, development and support.
  • Act as escalation point for key supply issues.
  • Ensure progress details are communicated to Customer Service on back ordered parts
  • Help support team in obtaining realistic and robust recovery plans from suppliers if required for overdue requirements. Monitor plans and negotiate improvements where possible.
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate regular performance reviews with JLR suppliers as required.
  • Work with key JLR suppliers to identify and deliver improvements in performance, SDPR, back-order reduction and parts availability.

• Potential to manage a discreet number of suppliers that require Lead Planner skills to resolve more complex supply issues and ensure schedule compliance is achieved and parts availability is maximised.
• Co-ordinate and facilitate regular performance reviews with JLR suppliers for self, and support team as required.
• Where suppliers are not schedule compliant, escalate to the appropriate levels internally and at the suppliers. Work with the supplier to identify root cause and establish recovery plans. Identify and negotiate improvements where applicable to reduce/mitigate back order risk.
• Provide progress details to Customer Service Team on all back ordered and critical parts
• Work cross functionally both internally, and externally with 3PL’s, to verify and/or resolve queries on supplier deliveries and accounting queries via e-trackers
• Attend weekly meetings with 3PL to resolve Inbound Grief/Enquiries queries.
• Attend daily Customer Service Team reviews to report on resolution of Unit Downs for self and team.
• Provide Governance summary for self and team on top back order vendors and attend weekly Governance meeting to report on root cause and recovery.
• Support vendor implementation role out plan for Supplier Network Collaboration (SNC).
• Collate information for management reports as required.
• Manage allocation of New Model programme parts into Mainstream Planners workload via ‘Quadrate’.
• Attend monthly JLRQ supplier reviews and take lead for team’s feedback.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Essential:

• Experience in current role of managing a small team. You will be required to demonstrate your ability to provide ongoing coaching, training and development of individuals.
• Considerable experience of the parts business and/or knowledge of the JLR supply base with a broad understanding of the individual functions (and their interdependency) within the Parts operation business
• Must be able forge excellent working relationships with suppliers, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse groups, managers, executives verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment.
• Well organised with a process orientated mind-set with great attention to detail and ability to manage priorities
• IT literate including Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc

Desirable:

• Knowledge of SAP would be advantageous
• Experience in a planning/procurement role within an aftermarket or manufacturing facility.
• A high level of analytical ability and negotiation skills.
