Your Impact:

Position Description:

This position will provide technical leadership and Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) support to the Technical Management Branch (EV71) and the US Space Force LOX Methane Impact (IMP) and Combined by Missile (CBM) Test programs.

• Coordinate with and integrate between EV personnel, the LOX-Methane Assessment project personnel, and multiple engineering disciplines.
• Develop and deliver Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) that captures the Systems Engineering approach for each of the planned tests.
• Maintain the SEMP and monitor progress of the project toward the meeting of defined milestones per the SEMP.
• Support the tracking of requirement verification efforts as well as support the design and readiness milestones events (e.g., Systems Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, and Test Readiness Review).
• Present a briefing detailing the systems engineering accomplishments and/or opportunities at each milestone event, including the capture and status of open items related to the SEMP objectives.
• Participate in reviews, meetings, teleconferences, and working groups.
• Communicate issues, best practices, lessons-learned and other technical positions related to the development of the systems engineering approach for the planned tests.
• Identify, describe, and communicate potential risks related to the products, processes, and interactions in the systems engineering processes.
• Participate in reviews, meetings, TIMS, teleconferences, working groups, and trade studies.
• Deliver project briefings to all levels of management.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

A degree from an ABET accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a BS with at least 5+ years of systems engineering and/or technical management experience.

• Experience developing and documenting requirements, processes, or procedures.
• Experience developing and maintaining a Systems Engineering Management Plan or similar document.
• Knowledge of basic space vehicle design, functions, terminology, interfaces, technical disciplines, and system design.
• A strong ability to perform with limited direction and guidance.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and effective team players with customer relations skills, familiar with working in a dynamic work environment.
• Demonstrated experience building strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders, organizing, and facilitating meetings/technical discussions.
• Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams & Outlook) are required.
• Excellent written and oral technical communication skills, with the ability to clearly define and describe a technical subject to peers across various engineering disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering project-level briefings.

Preferred Qualifications:

10+ years of experience, or a master’s with 3 to 8 years of systems engineering and/or technical management experience.

• Experience in project planning and technical integration.
• Experience with planning, executing, and supporting space/DoD hardware test programs.
• Familiarity with specific NASA Systems Engineering policies and procedures related to technical management such as the NASA Space Flight Program and Project Management Requirements (NPR 7120) and NASA Systems Engineering Processes and Requirements (NPR 7123).

Essential Functions

Work Environment:

General office environment (100%). Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (<15%).

Physical Requirements:

Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write s and perform engineering tasks (80%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and Jacobs’ facilities (10%).

Equipment and Machines:

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).

Attendance:

Regular attendance is a necessity to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
