JDE UK Retail is a £320M turnover business. Key brands are Kenco, Tassimo, L’Or and Douwe Egberts. The Unit Control team is responsible for the business partnering and decision making support to the business. The team comprises five roles and the general split of responsibilities is two roles supporting the Sales team, two supporting the Marketing team and one responsible for Warehouse and Distribution (W&D) and Overhead costs.

The focus of this role is to business partner across functions within Retail – Customer Services and Logistics, Sales, Marketing etc. It will report to the UK&I Retail Finance Director.

The Unit Controller prepares, provides and analyses financial management information which supports the decision making process of the department.

Forecasting:

Responsible for supporting and challenging budget holders and preparing detailed forecast and budget for W&D and Indirect costs on monthly basis. Plus monitoring actual variance to budget ensuring that financial data is robust. To include building models which show cost drivers and allow costs to be better controlled and more accurately forecast. Plus identification of risks and opportunities to the forecast.

Accounting & Reporting:

Ensure W&D and Indirect costs are correctly recorded at the end of each period through analytical review and discussions with the Supply chain, functional and Finance Excellence Centre teams.

Includes ensuring Shared Service costs are agreed with other units and regularly reported on and subject to true ups as needed

Ensure balance sheet accounts relevant to these areas are reconciled and accurate, following up old items on a monthly basis

Work cross functionally to ensure overall best for business decisions are made and track performance of specific initiatives that have been built into plans – efficiency schemes etc.

Controlling:

• Fulfil any compliance obligations of the role – controls, audit etc
• Provide minimum cover for other unit controllers
• Understand the legal and ethical compliance requirement of the position – eg accurate reporting

Ad hoc

• Role can have capacity for other ad hoc projects – e.g., more commercial business partnering or controls

Part Qualified / Qualified accountant (We are prepared to support studies)

Desirable:

• Business Partnering Experience
• FMCG experience
• Knowledge of SAP;
• Knowledge of SOX , US GAAP, AOP process
