ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provide on-call coverage to address safety and security concernsResponsible for understanding, supporting and actively demonstrating the College’s beliefs, values, mission, and vision and being in agreement to be evaluated by same.Develop relationships/collaborate with faculty and all Jackson College campuses to ensure Student Life programs/services strongly support student learning, the college’s mission, and strategic agenda.Monthly/Weekly programming for Jackson College students. Working with Resident Mentors (RMs), Assistant Director of Residence Life (ADRL) and Director of Residence Life.Assess needs and assist RM staff in developing, planning and implementing educational and social programs in the residence halls. Evaluate overall program effectiveness and make changes as needed.Collaboration with residence life staff for special events, move-in, welcome week, etc. –Coordinate Recruitment, hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate student employees for front desks of residence halls and hangar.Work collaboratively with Campus Safety, security, and facilities.Establish and maintain effective student relations by cooperating with student retention projects, maintaining positive contact with students, and offering support to contribute to students’ success and growth.Communicate regularly with the Director of Residence Life providing regular updates on activities occurring in student life.Work in conjunction with Marketing to advertise and promote student life activities. Coordinate community, employees and students use of The Hangar.Assist in establishing an annual Plan for and execution of Student Life Activities.Assist the Director of Residence Life in the development and implementation of plans and policies for Student Life and Student Organizations including but not limited to: student government, student activities, campus organizations and interest groups.Works with student leaders, staff and faculty to plan, organize, promote, supervise, and evaluate Student Life programs, events, and activities to meet the needs of students.Coordinates student government and student organization leaders through meetings, events, organizational communication, one-on-one conferences, teambuilding sessions and leadership retreats.Develops all advisement of student organizations and provides training and experiences within these organizations which help develop leadership skills and learning outcomes for students.Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices of Jackson College.Provide excellent customer service handling inquiries and requests from different parties and answering questions in a professional and friendly manner.Post and maintain office hours as determined by area’s needs. Expectations include but are not limited to night and weekend coverage. Expected to work nights and weekends as needed.Coordinator of Intramural Sports Program – Organize and manage the men’s, women’s and co-recreational program, including fall, spring, and summer term structured activities, emphasizing diversity in both sport offerings and levels of competition. Create an environment that educates and promotes sportsmanship and participation in recreational activities, in addition to providing a program in which risks are minimized. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has supervisory responsibilities for student employees which may include training, hiring and termination
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred and two years in college/university setting working with students. Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles, knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and skill in communicating effectively with individuals from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds are needed. Possess a strong understanding and commitment to student development. Experience with judicial affairs administration preferred.
