As a member of our Contract Accounting team, under moderate supervision, this position will allow you to assist in forecasting, actual vs. forecast variance analyses, month-end close activities (preliminarily preparing journal entries), balance sheet account reconciliations and other ad hoc research activities as assigned.

This position can be based out of one of our SW Missouri offices, our Allen, TX office or remotely throughout the U.S.

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Prepares journal entries during month-end closes.
• Performs monthly forecasts for assigned revenue P&L accounts, calculates actual vs. forecast variance analyses, provides explanations on variances, and performs balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Works closely with accounting managers to develop pertinent reports and/or analysis that will aid in managerial decision making.
• Conducts research projects in specific area of Contract Accounting.
• Respond to inquiries and requests from outside the Contract Accounting team, whether from other teams within Jack Henry and Associates or from our external auditors.
• May perform other job duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience.

What would be nice for you to have:

• Experience working for a software company or experience with revenue accounting.
• Developing professional expertise. Works on non-complex to moderately complex projects. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices.
• Must demonstrate ability to work well under pressure, meet aggressive deadlines, work effectively with both employees and management.
• Well organized and detail oriented to handle in-depth special projects.
• Good knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Excel.
