The Earthshot Prize seeks an exceptional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead and be accountable for the organisation’s financial management and critical business functions whilst partnering with Executive Team to enable the ambitious growth plans with financial strategy and business planning.

About the role

ing to CEO Hannah Jones (former Founder and President of Nike Valiant Labs and Former Chief Sustainability Officer at Nike), this newly-created role will extend The Earthshot Prize’s executive team and contribute to the overall leadership, strategic direction, policy development and decision-making of the organisation. You will join an inspiring peer group of C-Suite members and functional teams committed to repairing and regenerating the planet in this crucial decade. You will also work closely with the Board of Trustees, a diverse and global group of high-profile individuals who bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to help drive our impact.

Specifically, you will lead the development and performance of financial and operational strategies that enable long-term financial sustainability and efficient operations of the organisation. You will advise the Chief Executive and Board on these strategies, including working with the Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Partnerships Officer to set the donor and commercial and income strategies.

The CFO will also be responsible for developing and implementing financial planning, budgeting and forecasting to deliver growth and improve the business effectiveness and efficiency. This includes responsibility for the development and maintenance of the internal control environment and supporting financial policies, procedures and systems. Finally, you will also lead decision-making on investments and reserves and the management of financial strategy and risks.

About you

We would love to hear from you if you have a strong track record of senior leadership in financial and operations. While you will have deep experience of overseeing finances within a not-for-profit context, you will also have a proven bias to working with innovative, start-up and entrepreneurial teams. You will be able to demonstrate evidence that you are an enabler of innovation and fast growth entrepreneurial organizations, with a global lens.

You will need to be a talented leader and excellent strategist with a close interest in and affinity with our key goals: to repair and regenerate our planet through transformative partnerships and best-in-class innovation, investment and storytelling capabilities.

Skills and experience:

• Experience working at CFO level with in-depth knowledge of financial and operational management in the charitable sector (including restricted grant management and a funding environment)
• Strategic thinker experienced in collaborative strategy development
• Creative, curious and rigorous – able to find strategic solutions and work at pace to support new business decisions with modelling in unchartered and complex areas
• Fully qualified finance professional (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Wide experience of business planning, functional development and performance ing, including to the Board of Trustees
• Significant proven experience of managing diverse, inclusive, high-performing teams
