POSITION: Manager/Director

Our Biosciences Client is currently seeking an intelligent, analytical, and ed Manager, Technical Accounting and External Reporting to help build the GreenLight finance and accounting functions. S/he will guide the Company’s technical accounting considerations, drive the preparation of the Form 10-K and 10-Q SEC filings, play an integral part of the implementation of the SOX compliance and governance process, and have significant exposure to high profile areas including M&A, stock compensation, hedging, and other complex functions. The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SOX compliance, internal control frameworks, and a continuous improvement mindset. Finally, S/he will help with research and writing of critical accounting policies and play an instrumental role in working with the accounting team to ensure readiness for implementation of new accounting standards.

The successful candidate will have experience in a growing finance organization within the bio-pharmaceutical industry. S/he will possess strong leadership and communication skills.

This position will report to the Corporate Controller and be in the Medford, MA office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Drive the preparation of the Biosciences Client consolidated financial statements and other SEC filings and ensure they are GAAP compliant and of the highest standard of quality.
• Prepare and manage quarterly and annual process for filing Form 10-Q and 10-K (Edgar and XBRL), including drafting and reviewing documents, completing any necessary disclosure checklists, coordinating review by management, legal counsel and independent accountants while adhering to strict timelines.
• Work closely with investor relations to support the earnings call preparation, including the press release, script, slides, and support thereof.
• Manage SOX compliance efforts in partnership with external and internal audit firms, including annual updates to flowcharts, narratives, and control matrixes as well as review test plan and results.
• Ensure timely execution and review of month-end and quarter-end close activities including, but not limited to, prepare journal entries, account reconciliation, analysis, and reporting.
• Identify and recommend sustainable strategic and process improvements based on review of existing accounting areas and resolution of known accounting discrepancies to mitigate associated risks.
• Utilize Shareworks to ensure employee equity compensation is properly valued and expensed, activity is recorded, and cap table is maintained.
• Support successful completion of financial statement audits, including acting as a key point of contact with external auditors, drive preparation of audit schedules, and supporting the process.
• Assist with the development and implementation of new systems and internal controls that meet the Company’s business growth and culture.
• Work cross-functionally to address accounting matters with other departments and regions.
• Drive the implementation of technical accounting pronouncements and assessment of complex accounting matters, including but not limited to revenue, lease accounting, share-based compensation, taxes, comprehensive income, hedge accounting, acquisitions, fair value, asset impairments, consolidations, and foreign currency translations, to ensure the Company stays compliant with the latest GAAP codification.
• Assist with ad-hoc projects as requested.

IDEAL PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years’ experience with Big 4 accounting firm working with public companies, or equivalent experience working in a technical accounting/reporting role.
• Active CPA required.
• Proven ability to research complex accounting issues and interpret technical accounting literature.
• Financial reporting experience, including SEC filings.
• Experience with accounting tools such as Blackline, Equity tools such as ShareWorks or Equity Edge, and ERP systems such as MS Dynamics, NetSuite, or SAP preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office programs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 – $170,000.00 per year
