Job Description

ISNA Canada is currently searching for a dynamic candidate to fill the role of Imam/Muslim Religious Leader. This position goes beyond leading the community in daily prayers, as the Imam plays a crucial leadership role within the organization. The responsibilities include tending to the spiritual and social needs of the community, extending community support through diverse programs and activities, actively guiding the youth through contemporary challenges, fostering community growth, and providing instruction on the Minhaj Ahlu-Sunnah wa Jamah, following the commands of Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala), and adhering to the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead daily audible prayers and ensure their regular observance.

• Deliver Friday Khutbah and lead prayers for occasions such as Janazah, Taraweeh, and Eid.

• Coordinate unattended prayers with assigned leaders to ensure proper conduct.

• Organize and conduct halaqas, Quran classes, Seerah classes, and Quran Hifz programs. • Provide support and assistance with the Sunday school program, catering to young children’s

needs. Develop and execute engaging and impactful youth-focused programs.

• Officiate marriage (Nikah) ceremonies for the community.

• Collaborate with existing AIC committees, such as Dawah, Shura, youth, and outreach, to strengthen community bonds.

• Assist the fundraising committee in AIC projects and programs, including potential travel to other communities for support.

• Establish dedicated office hours at AIC to address and cater to community inquiries and needs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies or equivalent (i.e., Ijazah) from a reputable/accredited Islamic academic institution and/or reputable Scholars

• Manhaj of Ahlu-Sunnah wa Jamah

• Demonstrates a strong command of Quranic Tajweed

• Possesses excellent proficiency in both written and spoken Arabic.

• Fluent in English, with excellent reading, writing, and speaking skills.

• Exceptional communication and public speaking abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient in Quranic memorization (Hafiz of Quran)

• Proven track record of effectively initiating and leading youth programs

• Adept in addressing contemporary social challenges.

• Prior experience as an Imam or Religious Leader would be advantageous.

• Possess a prestigious higher degree in Islamic Studies or equivalent (e.g., Ijazah) from a recognized and accredited Islamic academic institution and/or renowned scholars.

Preferred candidates will be invited to visit ISNA Canada for a multi-day interview. This will allow for opportunities to interact with the community, deliver the Friday Khutbah, a series of lectures, and to understand the area’s resources, and needs.

Salary: $50,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
