Education, Employment and Training Adviser
As part of our continued response to challenge inequalities in youth unemployment, and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on local communities, we have created an exciting new employment and skills programme targeted at 18-25 year olds who are not in education, employment or training.
The programme supports young people facing additional barriers to employment, such as care leavers, those with experience of the youth justice system, and also young people known to key youth and community partners. This specific post has a focus on supporting a caseload of Islington care leavers.
Are you passionate about breaking down the barriers that prevent vulnerable young people from a care experienced background achieve positive outcomes and consider entering employment, education or training? We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with proven experience of supporting this group.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of a relatively new and specialist team in delivering this wrap-around programme of support that combines advice and guidance, work experience placements (participant expenses paid), bespoke training and skills opportunities including English and mathematics tuition, and therapeutic support.
The role will involve intensive case work with vulnerable young people aged 18-25, with a focus on building and sustaining positive working relationships with young people. You should also have a person-centred approach and have an understanding of the impact of childhood trauma on behaviours and choices.
You will play a key role in developing and shaping the offer in response to the needs of participants, working with a multi-professional team and taking an innovative co-location and community based approach to delivering support.
