The Island InnĀ is an iconic seasonal hotel (established in 1907) and restaurant located 11 miles offshore of Mid-Coast Maine on beautiful Monhegan Island – an unspoiled nature lover’s paradise of woods, cliffs, and rocky shores, and a small community of lobstermen and working artists. Most of Monhegan Island is preserved as a conservation area with 12 miles of hiking trails around the highest headland cliffs on the East Coast and endless rocky coves.
The Island Inn has 32 guest rooms, and an artists’Ā residence (Zimmieās).Ā In addition, the hotel operates an in-house 60 seat fine-dining restaurant and a free-standing cafĆ©, the Barnacle. Our restaurant serves breakfastĀ and dinner to very loyal hotel guests and the public, providing a unique take on coastal cuisine paired with a magical setting.Ā We passionately utilize the bounty of the coastal terrain, as well as cultivate our own gardens and greenhouse with a variety of organic/heirloom produce and micro-greens.Ā

Our kitchen and restaurant staff is at the heart of our continuous effort to offer superlative food quality and the highest level of gracious and personal guest service.Ā We believe in treating each member of our staff with respect and kindness so that they can do the same for our guests, many of whom have been staying with us for decades.Ā As our Baker, you will be expected to collaborate with the kitchen and Barnacle staff and the owners to develop the seasonal selections and to maintain the highest product quality at all times.

We’re searching for a skilled, energetic, highly-motivatedĀ Baker, who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Ā This position is responsible for all baked goods for the Hotel restaurant (Breakfast Service), CafĆ© (The Barnacle), and special events.

Education:Ā High School diploma or general education degree (GED).Ā Culinary training is highly desirable, but will strongly consider appropriate and varied experience as a substitute in all cases.
