Island Health Hiring for Technical Support I – Desktop Deployment at Victoria, BC Full Time

Job Description:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient & staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reports to Project Leader or designate. Reviews desktop purchase orders and receipt of goods from vendors to ensure standardization, compatibility, and feasibility criteria are met. Performs significant amount of data entry using spreadsheet and database applications. Assists in coordinating workstation installations by confirming that pre-installation requirements are complete, working closely with clients throughout the installation process. Provides backup support to the Helpdesk and Technical Support – Hardware/Software. Maintains assets database including the preparation of equipment for disposal. Provides technical advice for desktop installations and other related projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience

Grade 12, graduation from a recognized two-year computer systems technology diploma program, plus two years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Class 5-vehicle license.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to deal with others effectively.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Ability to operate related equipment.
