IPEX Group of Companies Hiring for Journeyman Electrician at Edmonton, AB Full Time

The incumbent will have the opportunity to work with the team of experienced Electricians and Automation Technician.

You will report directly to The Maintenance Superintendent.

The incumbent would work with a variety of Electrical, pneumatic and electronic instruments to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level, composition.

Work on variety of obsolete control system and implement continuous improvement program to upgrade all PLCs, HMIs, DCS and SCADA systems.

Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made on electrical / control circuits and systems.

Maintain accuracy of flow meters, pressure gages, temperature indicators, controllers, and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments.

Calibrate, repair, maintain and adjust system components, and install and maintain instruments and controls on new or existing equipment.

Job Description & Expectations:
Follow all plant policies and practices to ensure safety, quality, service and cost objectives are met

Plan and layout work assignments from complex blueprints, sketches or verbal instruction and accomplish these assignments with the maximum efficiency

Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems and devices

Lead and develop the team of experienced electricians

Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems and devices

Maintain the current controls inventory, propose and implement upgrade to improve the equipment reliability.

Ability to debug PLC (Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens etc) programs and make necessary process improvement

Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep accurate maintenance records

Capable of providing training, instruction and direction to apprentices or helpers assigned to them during their duties.

Update and maintain a real time backup of all PLCs, HMIs, and VFD program.

Must know and keep familiar all national, provincial and local codes as they affect repair, maintenance, safety, and dismantling of machinery, equipment and structures

Work with other classifications of employees in emergency situations, plant shut down periods, and in times when machinery is not operating to perform all necessary PM activities to get equipment and machinery back into operation in minimum time.

Ability to safely perform related physical demands of the role: lift up to 50 pounds as needed, standing and walking for long hours

Ability to work On-call schedule, as and when required

Work to meet all the set KPIs by the maintenance manager.

Provide 100% of your support and commitment towards IPEX’s objective; successfully implementing and maintaining 5S System for the PVC plant.

Requirements

Red Seal Journeyman Electrician / Instrumentation or 2 Years Diploma in Industrial Electrical Technology

8 to10 years hands-on experience in Manufacturing is mandatory

Hands on experience in electrical control panel troubleshooting, Smart Relays, Safety Relays, PID controls is mandatory

Dual Ticket (Electrician / Instrumentation) is an asset

Able to read and understand electrical, layout drawing and P&ID blueprint

Knowledge of Health and Safety practices is necessary

LEAN manufacturing knowledge is an asset

Must have strong, logical decision-making skills

Must have experience with time management and multitasking

Must be able to remain and act professional under pressure and maintain a positive attitude in a stressful environment.

Be very familiar with cable lists, instrument lists, instrument data sheets, I/O (input and output) lists, instrument location schematics, motor control schematics, process control loops, input and output schematics and network diagrams

Exhibit sense of ownership and accountability

Able to communicate effectively in English both written and verbally

Excellent housekeeping and organizational skills

Perform various other duties as assigned by his Supervisor.
