IP Australia is the government agency that administers Australia’s intellectual property (IP) rights system, specifically trade marks, patents, designs and plant breeder’s rights.
We are part of the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources Portfolio and contribute to the innovation system more broadly by using our skills and experience to provide information to government and Australian businesses.
Our vision is to have a world leading IP system that builds prosperity for Australia.
We support Australians as they navigate the intellectual property (IP) and innovation landscapes, supporting businesses to make informed decisions about their IP strategy.
To achieve our vision we have recently established a Customer Experience Group, recognising the importance of listening to customer’s experiences and needs in developing strategies and setting future direction.
The Communication and Public Education team is an integral part of the Customer Experience Group, ensuring our communication strategies are informed by customer data, are engaging and effective.
We have two Assistant Director (EL1) opportunities in our team, one ongoing and one non-ongoing (maternity leave vacancy) and are seeking dynamic, experienced and confident people to work with us.
The Assistant Directors are responsible for leading a small team of communication professionals to deliver quality and timely strategic communication and public education support.
Partnering with subject matter experts in business areas, the team plans, implements and evaluates effective solutions to achieve business objectives.
They ensure IP Australia’s education and awareness activities are aligned, targeted and effective, facilitating a broader understanding of the value of, and access to the intellectual property system among our customers and stakeholders.
Development and delivery of webinars, educational toolkits and case studies to promote IP messaging, the Assistant Directors are key to IP Australia delivering on its responsibilities to Australians.
Reporting to the Director Communication and Public Education, the ideal candidate will have relevant experience and qualifications.
Critical to success is the ability to establish and nurture productive relationships internally and externally, drive agreed outcomes, lead and inspire a small team and work collaboratively with the other Assistant Directors across the broader CEG team.
The role will suit someone who recognises the importance of team dynamics, has a contemporary and educated approach and values a positive and enthusiastic outlook.
