Finance Administrator

Employment Status: Full-time, exempt
Reports to: Director of Internal Operations

The Finance Administrator will be responsible for all general ledger accounting processes, preparing financial reports, monitoring cash needs, implementing best practices in financial administration, and assisting with management and reporting of government and local grants. The Finance Administrator will be someone whose expertise translates into optimized financial processes and compliance with industry regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & CORE RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

• Gathering, analyzing, and interpreting relevant financial data.
• Evaluating and optimizing financial controls and procedures.
• Maintain chart of accounts and proper accounting records.
• Updating daily transaction records.
• Managing accounts receivable and payable, as well as expenses.
• Keeping records of invoices, as well as reviewing and processing reimbursements.
• Preparing income statements, balance sheets and budge comparisons.
• Resolving account discrepancies and performing account reconciliations.
• Keeping abreast of regulatory requirements and best practices in financial administration.
• Assist with annual audit and budget preparation.
• Prepare vendor information for 1099 processing.

BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Must be able to work effectively with a diverse group of people and be willing to understand the big picture of the

Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity ministry and know that finance is only a part of the larger goal.

• Self-motivated and detail oriented.
• Reliable and dependable with a strong work ethic.
• Friendly and personable team player.
• Good analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software, Excel and computers in general.
• Knowledge of nonprofit accounting helpful, but not required.
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required, CPA preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years related experience.
• Must pass a criminal background check and sex offender check.
