Product Development Engineer – Relocation Assistance

Description/Job Summary

Develop multilayer plastic films and silicone coated release liners for the Building and Construction and Tape markets.

Responsibilities/Duties

Primary responsibilities are interfacing with the sales team and customers to develop new film products for the Building & Construction and Tape markets. Provide technical support for products such as product processing recommendations and troubleshooting product issues at customers locations. Investigate, analyze and resolve customer complaints when needed.

Perform plant studies/trials as part of the steps in the development and manufacture of new products. Specify and test raw materials for approval. Interface with raw material suppliers and purchasing on raw material recommendations and/or substitutions.

Analyze data to establish manufacturing and customers specifications. Specifying raw material selection, and equipment recommendations.

Extruder & converting equipment optimization

Capital equipment installation projects anticipated

Required Skills

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with a polymer science background and two years manufacturing experience in polymer processing such as blown film extrusion, film coating and converting or Master’s degree with a polymer science background. Candidates should have a basic knowledge of statistics, and have good communication skills.

Chemical Analysis Instrumentation:
FTIR
DSC
XRF
Microscopy

Physical/Mechanical Property Testing
Tensile/Elongation
Tear Test
Thickness/Basis Weight

Six Sigma/Lean/5S experience helpful, but not required.

Required Education

BS in Chemical Engineering
