Graphics & Throughput Computing Hardware Engineering (GTCHE) is responsible for delivering industry-leading GPU (3D, media, compute, and display) hardware intellectual property (IP) blocks and system-on-a-chip (SoC) products for discrete graphics and throughput computing. We strive to lead the industry through continuous innovation and world-class engineering. We work closely with partners across Intel and do not let any organizational boundary get in the way of solving problems. We are looking for Hardware Interns that are team players to join our team in the different areas of the business areas.
System Arch/Board Design responsibilities:
Learn to resolve challenges in the areas of high speed board design, power, digital and analog design
Innovate and Simplify tools and processes via scripting
Create schematics, Select components and build PCB board design with a Bill Of Material (BOM)
Use CAD and simulation tools such as Cadence Allegro, Sigrity
Bring up the products to life in a lab and support hardware and firmware aspects of the products
Debug and Maintain projects with various levels of complexity and purposes
Dynamically interact with Intel’s cross-functional design and validation teams
Power Design responsibilities:
Understand power requirements of the new generation GPU in accordance to form factor and design
Use of simulation tools such as SIMetrix, MathCad, MatLab, Cadence to verify initial proof of concept
Create schematics, Select components to meet cost and performance targets
Collaborate with the Board, layout and thermo-mechanical teams to ensure reliable and robust design
Bring up, Characterize and Validate designs to meet original specifications
Debug and Support designs through their life cycle
Develop and improve existing test procedures and methodologies to improve design and test flow
Use of scripting languages such as Perl, Python for automation of power measurements data collection
Thermal-Mechanical Design responsibilities:
Learn to resolve challenges in the areas of thermal, mechanical and acoustic around GPUs
Innovate, Simplify and Automate tools and processes via scripting
Build test setups and Design test fixtures
Bring up the products to life in a lab and support thermal, mechanical and acoustic aspects
Debug and Maintain projects with various levels of complexity and purposes
Dynamically interact with Intel’s cross-functional design and validation teams
Analyze gathered data, Prepare and Present reports in front of team
Use CFD solvers and 3D CAD tools such as Creo, Solidworks, Mentor and ANSYS
Signal Integrity responsibilities:
Understand electromagnetic and microwave and transmission line theory, as well as electrical and electronic circuits.
Use of simulation tools such as MATLAB to perform simulation on printed circuit boards.
Collaborate with power integrity/power delivery, board and layout teams to ensure reliable and robust design
Debug and Support designs through their life cycle
Develop MATLAB/Python scripts for frequency or time domain analysis toward the signal integrity tools
Extract EM models of the designs.
Qualifications
Minimum skills and experience that will get you noticed:
Candidate must be pursuing a Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or other science/engineering related field.
3+ month of educational or work experience in the following:
Working in a lab environment with schematics/PCB or Thermal/Mechanical or Robotics design
Programming with C or C++
Scripting languages such as Perl, Python , Skill (Cadence) or Excel
Preferred skills and experience that will make you stand out above the crowd:
Computer enthusiasts and excellent knowledge of current leading PC technology
Experience in discrete graphics add-in cards/systems and building your own PC
