Job Title: Landfill Engineer II

Salary Range: $78,131 to $99,931

Job Summary:

• Apply engineering skills and knowledge to waste management processes, landfill operations, regulatory compliance, construction, and environmental management systems.
• Participate in project planning, budgeting, contract negotiations, regulatory interactions, construction oversight, and operations.
• Mentorship provided by experienced technical staff and managers.

Essential Job Duties:

• Develop an understanding of permits governing landfill disposal sites and related operations.
• Procure and oversee consulting firms for regulatory document preparation, improving efficiencies, and ensuring compliance.
• Assist senior WM engineers on construction projects, including contract administration and CQA oversight.
• Collaborate with operation teams to maintain compliance and resolve issues.
• Prepare and review engineering, monitoring, and environmental s.
• Support environmental reviews and audits.
• Formulate goals and action plans in alignment with WM objectives.
• Identify site capital needs and include them in annual budget exercises.
• Foster positive relationships with state and local agencies for compliance.
• Implement WM engineering directives and Best Management Practices at sites.
• Provide technical support to various functional areas within WM operations.
• Continually seek opportunities for professional development and integration of new knowledge and technologies.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• Experience: 3 years in an engineering, technical, or environmental field.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required.
• Other Required Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Effective written and verbal communication, problem-solving, data interpretation, and following procedures with minimal supervision. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Work Environment:

• On-site daily at a landfill in Kentucky.
• Use of motor coordination and physical effort for tasks.
• Exposure to occupational risks associated with chemicals, fuels, wastewater, and construction operations.
• Travel up to 50% within assigned area.

Pay: $78,131.00 – $99,931.00 per year
