Insurance Resourcing Hiring for Employee Benefits Senior Account Manager-Remote for WA or OR residents only Full Time

If you are an experienced insurance agency Group Benefits Account Manager living in either Oregon or Washington State, and you want the option to work from home, my client wants to talk with you.

My client is a full-service independent insurance agency located in the greater Portland, Oregon area. You will be working as a Senior Account Manager/Benefits Consultant. Their Employee Benefits Division has grown substantially in the last year, and you will be supporting 1-2 Benefits Producers who specialize in groups ranging from 20 to 150 lives. You will have a shared Assistant and you must be able to perform all parts of the renewal from start to finish including spread sheet creation/analysis and employee benefit meetings. The book is all fully insured business. In addition to managing the renewal process, you will also market new business marketing and act as a claims advocate on behalf of your client groups.

Salary is DOE and there is a commission for book growth in addition to salary.

Key job duties:

• Build and maintain relationships with clients, insurance carriers, and vendors.
• Individual would manage a book of business comprised of clients mostly fully insured groups
• Responsible for acting as the primary contact between clients and insurance carriers and vendors
• Responsible for retaining clients through customer service which includes open and clear communication channels with clients, producers and internal partners.
• Ensure accurate timely responses occur between all parties.
• Analyze client contracts for insurance purposes and negotiate with underwriters, as needed, communicating findings to other department team members, as well as the client.
• Expected to attend client meetings onsite, phone conference, or virtual.
• As needed, preparation of materials needed for client meetings including but not limited to agendas, s, calendars, etc. based on company Templates.
• Identify problems, summarize and develop strategic solutions with the client by incorporating the company’s culture, mission and future staffing needs into recommended strategic solutions.
• Ability to understand, support and contribute to any potential strategic conversations initiated by the Sales Producers during internal team meetings and external client meetings.
• Educate, advises and aid clients on compliance topics including, but not limited to ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s and Health Care Reform.
• Attend seminars and other training opportunities to maintain required licenses and for knowledge development.
• Communicate due dates, timelines and expectation to clients and partners.
• Install new group insurance contracts for existing clients or new clients effectively utilizing resources to match client needs.
• Review sold group enrollment materials; send off to carriers and suspense for follow up, policy numbers etc.
• Renew policies in Epic based on department Policies & Procedures
• Maintain client files accurately and consistently documenting conversations, sending confirmations to clients, adhering to all other automation procedures.
• Handle cancellations with care, saving all accounts possible, and notify producer(s) in a timely manner.

Position requires knowledge of local OR and WA carrier markets, strong knowledge of Health Care Reform, 5+ years of experience working as an Account Manager in an agency setting, and an OR Life and Health license. The ability to use Excel and Word at an intermediate level is also needed. Life & Health license required. You MUST reside in WA or OR state. (no exceptions).
