POSITION OVERVIEW:
ISS is looking to fill the HR Generalist position to provide HR services to employees in Australia. While based in Sydney, the successful candidate will also support offices in Canberra and Melbourne. As ISS continues to expand its reach in the region, it is important that the chosen candidate has working knowledge of the different state-specific labor laws and practices in, but not limited to, NSW, ACT and Victoria.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
HR BUSINESS PARTNERING
Acts as the independent source of HR expertise in Australia for all line managers (regardless of location) and employees.
Proactively feedbacks to senior management concerns relating to employee morale, motivation, people at risk and provides recommendations.
Partners with management (local and global) for talent and performance management initiatives, adding valuable, balanced insights for employee/team development.
Proactively advises employees and management to resolve employee relation issues, acts as a confidant to employees and managers to assist them in performance and work-related issues.
Develops and manages key stakeholder relationships globally.
Fields general HR queries from clients.
Provides support and guidance to management team on office culture initiatives.
LOCAL MARKET COMPLIANCE
Ensures compliance with Fair Work Act in all aspects of managing employees in Australia.
Updates and maintains local HR processes, policies and procedures to ensure alignment to ISS core values and strategic goals.
Contributes to the development and implementation of ISS global and regional policies and procedures, tailoring to local requirements where appropriate.
HR OPERATIONS
Manages all aspects of year-end processes to ensure annual reviews, compensation decisions and promotions are successfully completed.
Manages administrative processes for joiners, leavers and other contract amendments.
Maintains accurate data in all HR systems (Workday is the primary HRIS with interface to other databases).
Produces all official documentations such as offer letters, disciplinary and termination letters.
Coordinates all international transfers, manages the global mobility process as well as checking work eligibility of foreign candidates.
Liaises with the internal payroll team and external payroll provider to ensure all employee information and reporting as well as supporting documents are accurately and securely provided.
Liaises with service providers and vendors on benefits administration, health/life cover, income protection, workers compensation and Superannuation.
Coordinates attendance reporting and holiday/sickness leave processes.
Facilitates off-boarding tasks such as exit interviews, issuance of reference letters, sending final pay instructions, termination of insured benefits and other reminders.
Other administrative tasks that may be assigned from time to time.
PROJECTS
Undertakes ad-hoc projects and global initiatives, e.g. Corporate Social Responsibility, Diversity and Inclusion, etc.
Reviews HR administration and identify systems integration and efficiency improvement opportunities.
Reviews office culture and relative levels of integration with the rest of ISS and recommends steps required to reinforce engagement.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or other related courses.
HR professional certification/qualification a plus.
Extensive knowledge of Fair Work Act as well as working knowledge of state-specific labor laws in Australia.
Minimum 10 years of solid and successful HR experience including Employee Relations, Performance and Talent Management, Compensation and Benefits, in addition to Recruiting and Learning and Development.
Evidence of multiple stakeholder management in a matrixed, international organization.
Evidence of successful development and implementation of cultural/engagement initiatives.
Ability to work in a highly pressurized environment and can prioritize workload accordingly.
Team player but at the same time able to work independently in a virtual global team environment.
Has work authorization in Australia.
