Inspire for Autism Hiring for Classroom Teacher at Brattleboro, VT Full Time

The I.N.S.P.i.R.E School for Autism, located in Brattleboro, VT is a specialized placement school for students aged 7-22 with autism and other moderate to severe disabilities in the tri-state area. At I.N.S.P.i.R.E we strive for our students to be as independent as possible in all aspects of their lives. In doing so, we focus on adaptive, vocational, and communication skills, alongside functional academics.

Our school offers very small class sizes, and academic and life skills programming that is highly customized for each student.

We are looking for a full-time teacher who is qualified to teach ELA and Social Studies at the high school level. Teacher Certification is preferred, but not necessary.

The successful candidate will:

• Prepare and deliver daily lessons that align with the common core.
• Exhibit a deep and accurate understanding of subject area knowledge.
• Work collaboratively with specialists and colleagues to plan effective instruction for all students.
• Participate in IEP meetings and setting of student goals, monitoring progress
• Supervise a classroom of 6 or less students, all with 1:1 support from a paraeducator.

Qualifications:

Current VT Teaching Certification preferred but not required. A non-certified candidate must have these minimum credits and courses in the following content areas:

English - at least 9 credit hours that include:

• American Literature
• English Literature
• World Literature

Social Studies – at least 12 credit hours that include:

• American history
• Western civilization
• And two other history or social studies courses
