InnovAge Hiring for Area Medical Director, Philadelphia Full Time

The Area Medical Director is responsible for the day-to-day medical operations of the 4 Philadelphia centers, providing support to the center medical directors and related staff of physicians and nurse practitioners. They are responsible for the ensuring operations stay within department budget, quality initiatives and other duties assigned by Executive staff. This position is responsible for the medical care of InnovAge participants across a variety of settings, including but not limited to the day center clinic, participants’ homes, the nursing home, assisted living facilities and personal care boarding homes. Direct hospital inpatient care is not required but close coordination of care with hospital-based providers is essential.
This position would have 4 direct s, collectively manage the care for 800+ participants but has no direct panel of participants to care for. The expectation is to be in/at one of the 4 facilities throughout the week and the occasional work-from-home day to manage meetings, etc. Travel between facilities is reimbursed mileage. Will serve as working Physician to participants if staff is out but has no dedicated panel.

• Provides s to the Chief Medical Officer Population Health monthly utilization review for Inpatient, ER, Outpatient, Nursing Home, Pharmacy or any areas of significant budget variation.
• Participates in the quality initiatives of InnovAge PACE in conjunction with the Quality Department. Champions at least one primary care strategic initiative
• Coordinates the regular primary care team meetings.
• Participates in other projects that impact the primary care department as needed at the direction of the Executive

• Effectively leads direct s, providing motivation and direction to employees of the organization.

• Ensures annual employee performance reviews are conducted in a timely and effective manner

• Helps set the tone of the department to ensure morale, team work, and that the positive employment culture of the organization is maintained.
• As a back-up to the team, step in for staff that’s out to serve as Primary Care Physician PACE participants, including the evaluation, diagnosis and management of their medical conditions, including but not limited to taking of a medical history, performance of physical examination, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests, formulation of an assessment of condition and a treatment plan, writing prescriptions, ongoing follow up of same, and management of medical information from specialists and hospital teams.

REQUIRED

• 5+ years as practicing Primary Care Physician
• 5+ years leading a staff (direct/indirect)
• Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree
• Current active Medical License for the state in which practicing

• Adequate malpractice coverage
• DEA number
• Not on Preclusion list
• Board Certification in a primary care field

PREFERRED

• Postgraduate training in a primary care specialty, including but not limited to internal or family medicine and completion of post-residency training in geriatric medicine preferred, but not required.
• A minimum of one year working with the frail or elderly is required.
• 10+ years clinical experience
• 10+ year leadership experience
• Experience in a matrixed environment
