A common early interview step for jobseekers is to have a screening phone call with a recruiter. These can be a challenge to schedule and require a significant amount of recruiter time.
The Virtual Evaluations team is building a one-way video interview experience to speed up this screening stage. One-way interviews provide flexibility to both employers and jobseekers, making the process easier for everyone. For employers, one-way interviews take the logistics out of scheduling, enabling them to accommodate a wider variety of candidates schedules. For jobseekers, one-way interviews take the pressure off of performing live, and the ability to review the questions in advance and re-record their responses gives them more control over how they present themselves.
As a member of the Virtual Evaluations team, you will be working closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and your SWE teammates to implement and measure new features and improvements to the platform. You will be focusing on how we can start small to validate ideas, and rapidly iterate based on data.
As a Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity and ownership to make an immediate impact. You will have the autonomy to drive and deliver features, and your work will help the platform scale as it expands to meet the needs of employers around the world. At the same time, you will collaborate with your peers to apply engineering best practices, and help to create a culture of software quality and operational excellence.


Who You Are

You are a full-stack engineer — ideally equally comfortable working on the back and front end — who is passionate about driving great product experiences across the world. You understand that the teams which have the greatest impact are those with great individuals who can collaborate and deliver more together than they possibly could individually.

  • Understand the end user and can build simple, elegant solutions
  • Think about why something needs to be built, not just what needs to be built
  • Love to learn and develop new skills continuously
  • Are willing to work in a tech stack deemed most suitable for the project
  • Enjoy helping others grow and develop great software
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Mathematics or equivalent field required
  • 3+ years experience in Java, Python, or C++ – Java preferred

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.


Salary Range Transparency

SF Bay Area 140,000 – 204,000 USD per year

Austin 109,000 – 159,000 USD per year

NYC Metro Area 134,000 – 194,000 USD per year

Seattle 132,000 – 192,000 USD per year

US Remote 109,000 – 159,000 USD per year
