Purpose of Role

The Estimator is responsible for analysing and quantifying tender packages, preparing cost estimates and submitting tenders for commercial projects. The primary purpose of the role is to assist in generating new business for the company.

Key Functions & Responsibilities

• Analyse project construction drawings and other documentation to prepare quotations based on materials and labour cost estimates for the required scope of work
• Quantify areas using software, in order to prepare a bill of quantities, quotation, and other documents required for submission of a professional tender bid.
• Consult with, suppliers, subcontractors and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate pricing
• Liaise with the client, architects or other consultants as required to complete the tender
• Prepare worksheets, roll and cutting schedules for where required for the factory prior to handover
• Prepare budgets based on the tender submission, for use by the project team.
• Assess any possible cost savings or value management options during the tender process.
• Conduct negotiations with clients, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
• Correctly file contract, post-contract and tender documentation, construction plans
• Assessing and pricing contract variation orders where required
• Liaise with overseas / virtual teams as required, including uploading documentation, managing timelines and reviewing outputs.
• Liaising with the General Manager, Contract Administrators and Site Supervisors to validate tender pricing and cost estimates.
• Prepare management reports in accordance with an agreed format
• Professionally represent the “brand” in accordance with company policies when liaising with client representatives; suppliers; Government representatives and others;
• Other tasks as requested by management from time to time.

Relevant Qualifications / Experience

None required, however previous experience estimating, particularly on Commercial Projects, is preferred. Qualifications or previous experience in quantity surveying, drafting or other trade specific technical skills could be beneficial.

Salary: Up to $100,000.00 per year
