Imperial College London Hiring for Software Engineer Job at South Kensington, England Full Time

We’re looking for a full-stack software engineer to pioneer web-based software in the rapidly growing area of digital education. We are a world-leading research and education institution with an exciting and dynamic environment that encourages critical thinking, innovation, and taking the initiative.

We are investing in improving the feedback we provide to students. Our vision is to provide rich, personalised, timely feedback to students during their study. A key enabler to our vision is to develop new software to automate feedback to students based on data analytics and advanced ‘maths aware’ algorithms that interpret student homework. Such software will support students during their study, so that they can make more progress independently and have a better idea of where they need support. Teachers will then be able to spend quality time having enriching discussions with students, rather than concentrating on providing marks and feedback which could be automated.

This post has the potential to work as a Software Engineer or Lead Software Engineer. The title at the stage of appointment will depend on the experience of the candidate.

Duties and responsibilities

• You will be key in the design, development, testing and deployment of the new software, working with key stakeholders to make software architect decisions in line with project deadlines.
• You will be involved in developing the internal community of software users and algorithm generators.

Essential requirements

• All applicants must have a deep knowledge in a mathematically based subject, and/or a degree (or equivalent in a relevant field.

For appointment as a Software Engineer, you will be proficient in developing modern web services.

For appointment as a Lead Software Engineer you must also:

• Have experience in making Architecture decisions
• Be an expert in cloud architecture
• Have experience with agile development methods and expertise in building secure software
• Have experience of project management

This is a fixed term position until the 31st July 2023 in the first instance, with the potential for extension.
