On behalf of our client in Surrey, Ignite Technical Resources is looking for a Senior Product Manager – Software (SaaS) with the client for a permanent opportunity.
Department Summary:
Marketing & Product Management (M&PM) is an integrated team of marketers and product management specialists. Their vision is to be a spearhead to profit and growth driving effective marketing programs and leading the introduction of new products for CEL companies, including Conviron and Controls. Within M&PM, the aspects of new product development include Product Management, Program Management, and Product Marketing. These functions all play a role in shaping and promoting a product portfolio and bringing new products to market.
Role Description:
The Senior Product Manager – Software-as-a-Service, or PdM SaaS, is responsible for two main areas:
Product Management: Driving the development, launch, marketing, and improvement of the company’s SaaS products throughout their lifecycle, which includes a mix of tactical and strategic duties.
Program Management. Oversee planning and managing the workflow of multi-disciplinary teams according to the New Product Development (NPD) Process to ensure organizational readiness for new SaaS product launches.
Responsibilities:
Product Management: Working collaboratively with Sales, Engineering, R&D, and other CEL department stakeholders, the PdM SaaS plans and manages the portfolio of new products from concept to launch right through to sunset. In particular:
Create Product Line Strategy. Develop an overall SaaS product vision and roadmap.
Ideation & Research. Generate new product ideas. Identify and define opportunities for new products that are aligned with corporate objectives; research market and liaise with clients to identify and validate needs.
Develop/Communicate Product Plans. Investigate and articulate market requirements for new products, assess the commercial and technical feasibility using research and prototyping methods as needed, and communicate product requirements for development.
Build Business Case/Plan. Gather inputs from all stakeholders to create a business case including financial analyses of product opportunities. Develop product roadmap from MVP to launch and through product evolution.
Guide Development Teams. Provide guidance on technical and commercial aspects of R&D, Engineering Sales, Service and Marketing strategies to fulfill product plans.
Cultivate Relationships with Partners. Identify and align with partners that enhance or complement the product portfolio.
Lifecycle Management. Monitor and manage the evolution of features and profitability of products after launch and through the maturation and sunset phases of key products.
Program Management: Within the context of the New Product Development (NPD) Process:
Manage new product program teams from Stage 1 Ideation through Stage 6 Launch implementing the tools and templates to best suit the needs of each program.
Define program expectations to team members, develop program schedules, set the pace of interim stage meetings and decision-point gate meetings, and ensure the team’s completion of critical deliverables required for each stage and gate.
Manage the development of program budgets based on the scope of work and resource requirements, track and report on program costs.
With team members, collaborate to develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan.
Report on the progress of new product programs at Product Review Committee quarterly meetings to ensure clarity and alignment of priorities.
Requirements:
Well-developed project management skills and familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Adept at managing multi-functional teams without direct reporting lines.
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Controls Technologies, Engineering, Business, or a combination of thereof.
10 years of experience in software, high-tech, or highly engineered product sectors.
3-5 years of product management experience in SaaS enterprise environments.
Experienced in leading successful new product launches.
Experience with Stage-Gate, Agile, and Lifecycle management model.
