Job Title: Education Researcher

Type: Part-time
Classification: This is a based on fixed days per year, without overtime pay.
Overview: IBTCI is seeking a Education Research, with extensive experience in the basic education, aid programming, Somalia, the Horn of Africa, impact evaluations, food security, nutrition, livelihoods, and resiliency sectors, for an impact evaluation of FAO’s resilience program in Somalia.
This position is contingent upon award and anticipated to start in fall 2022.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:
Conduct desk research and review of work plans to determine tools, evaluation design, sampling, and technical approach to the impact evaluation, specifically related to childhood education;
Work with the team to develop an inception report and methodology including sources of data and data collection tools to monitor and measure interventions.
Support local capacity building and increase knowledge and skills of stakeholders and relevant actors.
Travel to East Africa for team meetings;
Work with the technical team and managers in analysis of data on an annual basis.
Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in education, anthropology, agriculture, statistics, or a related area from an accredited institution required; PhD preferred.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in international assistance, with a focus on basic education and evaluation.
Experience with and understanding of Somalia.
Experience leading impact evaluations.
Previous qualitative and quantitative research experience required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting research in developing countries.
Wide range of publications and conference presentations.
Strong oral and written communication skills in English, including evidence of quality report writing and presentations. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with quality products.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Working Environment: The consultant will be expected to work from home.
Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Travel: Travel to East Africa is expected.
