Your Role and Responsibilities
The Z as a Service team is looking for software engineers to join our Hyper Protect engineering team, delivering their offerings on IBM Z, primarily on Linux OS, with strategic importance and high business visibility.

• As a Software Engineer, you will lead IBM into the future by translating system requirements into the design and development of customized solutions in a highly agile working environment:
• Responsible for end-to-end feature development and resolve challenges faced in implementing the same
• Learn new technologies and implement the same in feature development within the time frame provided
• Manage debugging, finding root cause analysis and fixing the issues reported
• Engage with key stakeholders, internal and external, to understand the problems, issues with the product and features and solve the issues as per SLAs defined.
• You would be working with team/or teams which both develop applications from scratch or extend existing ones, integrate third party vendor solutions with IBMs own, and incorporate Open-Source development where possible.
• You will base your work on patterns and idioms that the team uses to create their applications, help to decide on development, testing, and monitoring tools and how continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines are set.
• You inspire the members of your team to push toward the boundaries and to challenge those boundaries when they believe that they have a better way of doing things.
• You help to resolve technical conflicts among team members and work on designs with fellow Engineers.
• You will work with the wider development team to deliver documentation, code, integrated test plans and SRE run books alike, ensuring compliance with all security and Service framework requirements.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with Agile and CI/CD.
• Strong problem determination/solving experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Experience with Linux distributions, e.g. Ubuntu, Fedora, Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Experience with containerised applications and infrastructure e.g. Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, Virtual Private Cloud, networking etc..
• Programming languages such as Go, Rust, Python, Node.js, shell scripting etc.
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience of any of the following tools: GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Tekton, Travis.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development and/or Behaviour Driven Development.
• Cloud technologies and environments.
• Experience of Linux on non-x86 architectures.
• Self-direction / self-motivation.
• Experience with Open Source software projects.
