IBM Automation are seeking talented and motivated designers in Hursley, UK to deliver irresistible solutions which address our customers’ most challenging business problems and opportunities. The best candidate will have experience collaborating effectively with a cross functional team in agile and lean delivery methodologies. The candidate must demonstrate technical curiosity and tenacity to partner with some of the leading technologists in the field of cloud and cognitive computing to design products that are modern and user-friendly.

We are seeking professionals with the following skills:

• User Experience (UX) Design

UX Designers will craft intuitive interactions and workflows informed by market and audience research – typically in the form of sketches and wireframes. Industrial designers with strong interaction design skills are welcome to apply.

• Design Research

Design Researchers will specialize in discovering, analyzing, and communicating user needs. They will use qualitative and quantitative user research to prioritize design work and communicate results to other members of the team.

• Visual Design

Visual Designers will use their expertise in typography, layout, colour, etc. to elicit emotional connections and intuitive, intelligent responses from our audience. Pixel perfect precision and expert skills in software tools for design, production, and implementation are a must.

• Front-end Development

Front-end Developers will use their expertise in front-end programming to quickly prototype a working model of the assets and ideas generated by Visual, Interaction and Research Designers. A strong background in front-end technology – mobile and web – is a must here.

Each of these positions offers an excellent opportunity to develop design skills with a multi disciplinary team of developers, designers and business professionals focused on the next generation of software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Formal education and experience in visual, interactive, UX or industrial design
• Extremely strong foundation in standard visual, interactive design tools
• Strong, innovative vision supported by a disciplined attention to detail
• Ability to work within a cross-functional team and handle multiple projects with tight deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal interaction skills
• Experience of software tools for design, production, and implementation, such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud applications
• Knowledge of HTML and CSS

Exposure To:
Design processes/tools/methods, web development and related skills, documentation, business tools and methodologies, troubleshooting and problem resolution, and customer facing experience.

You will be required to work on-site in the Hursley office with the ability to work remotely occasionally.
