Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM is seeking highly motivated and experienced individuals with 5+ years sourcing and procurement experience in Consumer Product Goods industry to join our team of procurement professionals. Specifically, we are seeking to fill the role of a Co-Manufacturing Supplier Category Manager. The Category Manager leads sourcing and procurement projects using competitive techniques and/or negotiation(s) to select and contract with goods and service providers in Co-Manufacturing Management and services on behalf of our clients. In addition, Co-Manufacturing category knowledge is required. The role also creates industry and category insights to assist in the development of the client’s category & sourcing strategy. This is a procurement role, not a Co-Manufacturing Manager role.
Category Manager responsibilities and preferred requirements include, but are not limited to:
Category Expertise
Experience in the purchase of goods and services required to manage Co-Manufacturing suppliers for corporate office, warehouse, and manufacturing. Keen understanding of Co-Manufacturing business needs and how procurement can partner to increase speed to value and cost savings. Detailed Co-Manufacturing market knowledge, thought leader capable of identifying areas of opportunity to drive cost/process improvement and/or increase category maturity.
Contracting Knowledge
Knowledge and experience in delivery and pricing models for Co-Manufacturing supplier management and services. Experience working with top Co-Manufacturing management firms, including how to spot value and risks in these contracts. Key areas of role:
Co-manufacturing and CAPEX sourcing strategy development
Collaboration with Business Stakeholders on contracts that yield cost savings and continuity of supply
Contribute to Business Objectives and collaborate on supplier selection, management, rationalization, performance monitoring, and reporting
Collaboration with Demand-Supply, manufacturing and logistics professionals on total supply chain cost and efficiency improvements
Procurement Experience
Experience in development of Requests for Proposals (RFP), bidding, and tendering of; integrated Co-Manufacturing and Co-Packing management and Co-Manufacturing management services (and other related services) fee structure.
Client Facing Skills
Ability to maintain professionalism in communications with all levels of client stakeholders. Experience being in a client facing role. Ability to deliver high quality project deliverables on time and with the level of attention to detail the client expects. Proven ability to make/show progress by proactively making decisions and taking action.
Client Relationship Management
Proven techniques and the ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with Clients. Experience dealing with challenging stakeholders and clients to meet and exceed expectations.
Effective Communications
Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Influencing
Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization. Experience driving on-time results on projects with moving targets and disperse stakeholder groups.
Effective Presentations
Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques; ability to present information to groups with the appropriate degree of formality.
Data Analysis
Ability to utilize data to sort through and analyze enterprise data in order to gain greater insight into trends within a business, industry and Client’s spend.

Purchasing Tasks and Activities
Knowledge of policies, regulations and processes of purchasing; ability to use practices and procedures for procurement of materials, components, equipment and services.
Strategic Sourcing
Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously. Knowledge and ability to utilize project management skills to document and drive compliant processes within the procurement cycle.
MS Office
Strong knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc.)
Baseline Creation & Savings Analysis
Knowledge of and ability to create baseline and savings analysis for procurement project. Also, knowledge of savings methodologies and how to calculate savings for each methodology.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Excellent client-facing skills.
Experience in Consumer Product Goods industry
Minimum (5) years experience in Co-Manufacturing or Co-Packing sourcing or procurement
Expert knowledge of the 7-step sourcing process, category management, strategic sourcing, tactical buying, procurement operations, contract management, risk management & supplier relationship management.
Demonstrate proficiency in leading teams supporting complex scope of services for clients & have management experience.
Must have a proven track record of leading & managing sourcing teams both on – shore & off -shore.

Candidates must be willing and able to travel to client locations based on business requirements. Peak client travel may be up to 4 days/week and 3-4 weeks per month (e.g., early months with a new client); however, steady state travel is purposeful in nature and often less frequent (e.g., 2 weeks per month in most roles).
Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
