About The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated individual that is looking to develop their accounting and finance skill as part of a small and supportive team where you will be involved in all aspect of the accounting function and therefore gain comprehensive skills across a range of accounting functions.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of accounting covering accounts payable and receivables, general ledger reconciliations and understand key elements in an Income Statement, Balance Sheets and Cash Flow Statements.

Key challenges;

• Provide appropriate support to the Senior Financial and Management Accountant to ensure business needs are met and core functions are performed as effectively and efficiently as possible.
• Maintaining knowledge of accounting standards, government policy and legislation to deliver best practice accounting.
• Managing relationships and responsibilities across other Divisions within the Commission in an environment of different workloads and priorities.
• Managing the relationship and escalated matters between the outsourced provider, GovConnect with internal stakeholder demands.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have

• Relevant qualifications from TAFE (Graduate Diploma in Accounting) or University Degree
• Accreditation with, or be eligible to join, a professional accounting body NIA/CPA/CA
• Previous experience in an accounting role (minimum 2 years)
• Team player with good communication skills
• High attention to detail, excellent time management skills and a proactive approach
• A positive attitude and be a keen learner
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
• Able to be an efficient business partner with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong ability to solve problems and offer solutions
• High proficiency in MS Excel and the ability to learn and use new systems

Essential Requirements

• Australian work rights.
• The successful applicant will be required to complete a Background Verification Check which includes a National Police Check (Criminal History), qualification check, and Working with Children’s Check.
• All employees of the HCCC are required to have received a COVID-19 vaccine or have an approved medical contraindication certificate. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.
