About the role:

You will be working towards an apprenticeship in Software Engineering Level 4, which is equivalent to a foundation degree and is a standalone qualification.

Our apprentices work with us full time and attend a technical college on day release 1 day a week during term-time on a 18-month course. The course is entirely virtual so you are able to study from home or the office. Your studies are supported by Hydrock financially and through mentoring. You will primarily work within the Transportation Sector, working on Autonomous Vehicle, Electric Vehicle and microsimulation projects. Within this role, there would be no such thing as a typical day. Projects range from pedestrian simulation and EV charging modelling to designing our own software to overcome environmental and engineering challenges. You will work closely with a small team who will assist you in becoming proficient in all of the software packages we use.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Bringing innovative ideas to the table.
• Working to resolve technical challenges through the use of detailed modelling software.
• Creation of tools or software to assist with existing problems, or overcoming new ones.
• Supporting marketing events, both in the UK and internationally.
• Managing your own workload to meet project and study deadlines.
• Liaising with internal and external team members, developing relationships and people skills.
• Gaining experience in the preparation of reports, drawings and specifications.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

• To meet the entry requirements of the training provider regarding your qualifications. This means having an A-Level in a STEM subject or another relevant qualification or experience. Full details are available on the training provider’s site.
• A keen attitude to learning and enthusiasm to achieve in the workplace and in your studies
• Strong numeracy skills
• Confident communication skills both written and verbal
• Enjoy utilising technology
