Job location: North York, ON – Canada

Summary: The Furnace Operator will report directly to the Production Supervisor in North York, ON.

The furnace operator must be able to learn and perform a variety of tasks in the cast house. The job is physically demanding, and the work environment is very hot. The ideal candidate must have previous experience in manufacturing processes. The job consists of working in the cast house, where the operator will receive scrap aluminum for recycling, have to clean and separate the material, which will be melted in furnaces that operate at high temperatures.

Job Responsibilities:
Able to read, write and speak English

Knowledge of machine safety practices

Previous cast house experience is an asset

Experience in foundry considered an asset

Previous forklift experience preferred

Set up, adjust and operate various casting machines

Operate furnace used to melt metals for molding and casting

Operate overhead crane to lift, move and place materials

Perform pre-operational inspections

Ability to work in a hot environment

Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, Supervisors and Management

Able to meet Health and Safety requirements

Other duties as assigned

Must be able to work continental shifts (12-hour shifts, 36-hour and 48-hour weeks)
