Job Description

HII Mission Technolgies C5ISR in Rome, NY is looking for a Software Engineer to support our customer at AFRL. This is a hybrid position which calls for time at customer site and ability to work from home on occasion.

You will work as a part of a team to help solve technical problems associated with integrating third party software. Position will require interaction with the original software developers to receive new software versions, compile source code and perform testing to ensure the outcome fulfills the requirements laid out by the customer.

Work is done in a cross-functional software development team (business analysts, software engineers, testers)

Essential Job Responsibilities

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.

Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and / or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.

Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls;

prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.

Ensures software standards are met.

Minimum Qualifications

2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.

Clearance – Ability to obtain a Secret after hire.

Preferred Requirements

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering and 3+ years demonstrated experience is software development.

Our ideal candidate will have experience with one or more of the following software languages :

Java

JavaScript

Unity

General experience in coding, able to analyze undocumented / poorly documented code and understand what is going on regardless of language

Familiarity with LAMP stack / full stack development, projects with a web UI and how they can be extended

Docker / Kubernetes

Be comfortable with Linux, doesn’t have to be a Power user as most common issues can be googled

VirtualBox VMs

Scripting in PowerShell / Bash

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family.
