As HR lead for the council you will be responsible for leading, innovating and delivering both an operational and strategic HR and Payroll Service to the organisation and this will include managing a team that provide a full HR and payroll service including; advisory; workforce analytics and reporting; employee relations; resourcing; learning and development; pensions; payroll; reward; organisational change; engagement; equalities diversity and inclusion.
You’ll lead, coach, and develop your team to ensure you are providing effective advice to managers and staff on all people related matters.
You’ll provide strategic and operational guidance to the organisation and as a service manager part of your focus will be on ensuring service delivery; along with continuous improvements to processes and supporting the team to ensure key activities are effectively managed.
We’re looking for an HR professional who has experience of operating at senior level; confident at advising and influencing all levels of the organisation and operating as the lead expert on HR matters. You’ll be an experienced people manager; who can coach and develop and mobilise a team to deliver multiple and often high-profile initiatives. You’ll have a flexible approach, will be able to balance multiple priorities and can understand the importance of working collaboratively.
A strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into action, you’ll have a strong generalist HR Background, but will have gained experience in cultural and organisational change; and an understanding of employee relations; reward and employee engagement.
You will get involved in the operational delivery, as well as strategic thinking around workforce and will be comfortable at engaging with colleagues across the organisation to understand issues and challenges and help resolve these. You will be able to pick things up quickly, work autonomously, and above all, bring in a ‘can-do’ attitude with new thoughts and a fresh perspective. The HR service is well respected, but you have the opportunity to build and develop on what’s already in place.
