About the Role
Scott Memorial Hospital Scone has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Educator to deliver and evaluate clinical education programs in consultation with Nurse Management, Nurse Educators and Clinical Nurse Consultants, to support Excellence, clinical best practice, care and optimise clinical outcomes within the Imaging Department across the Greater Metropolitan Area. The CNE will work collaboratively with other clinical experts, and managers to support the skill development of staff within our small rural facility. The ideal candidate would be an experience RN with strong communication skills to provide feedback to staff and support them to learn. Someone with experience in emergency and acute care with skills in cannulation, ALS that they could teach and assess others would be ideal. We are looking for someone with strong nursing skills and Emergency Department experience to be part of our team. Our ideal applicant will have competence in Advanced Life Support, cannulation. They will have a demonstrated understanding of working in an acute service and they will be caring for acute patients, aged care patients, and emergency presentations with the different care requirements.
The CNE is supported by our local managers and is encouraged to participate in the district educator network. Ongoing training in clinical education and via MHL is encouraged and supported locally at the district level. The position is also supported by clinical experts within district Clinical Streams and networks and strategically through Nursing and Midwifery Services. The role is supported by an enthusiastic team of dedicated staff, onsite orientation is provided and ongoing education is encouraged.

Scone is a town in the Upper Hunter Shire in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. At the 2006 census, Scone had a population of 4,624 people. Scone is affordable and relaxed, Scone has the benefits of a country town with familiar friendly faces and true country experiences. Scone is less than 3 hours from Sydney, two hours from Newcastle and one and a half hours to Tamworth. It is known as ‘The Horse Capital of Australia’ and claims to be the second-largest horse breeding area in the world, after Kentucky in the United States. The equine focus of the town is reflected in numerous ways: it is the home to the Australian Stockhorse Association; the Hunter thoroughbred breeding industry which is reputedly the second largest breeding area in the world; the district has some of the country’s longest established pony clubs; there is a thriving polo and polocrosse community.
You will be working with a dedicated team of Registered Nurses, Endorsed Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing in supporting excellent care to our patients in collaboration with patients, families and carers. You will be supported with a Clinical Nurse educator and a Quality Coordinator on site Monday to Friday. The emergency department is staff with One Registered Nurse Monday to Friday morning and evening shift, with additional support from a Registered Nurse working between the morning & the evening. Weekends have two Registered Nurses in our emergency department over the morning and evening, support is provided by the medical staff who are on-call. Senior Emergency staff support junior staff to develop their emergency skills. You will be supported by Health Service Manager, Clinical Manager, Nurse Unit Managers in Maternity Unit and Operating Theatre/ Day Stay Unit along with the facility Clinical Nurse Educator, Quality Coordinator.
