Day in the Life

As the Production Design Manager, you will partner with functional leads and producers through each stage of the design process for various ‘always on’ projects. The Manager is a dynamic leader who loves people, process, and working with a team of designers to deliver consistent & elevated work. The Manager will also be required to ‘jump into the mix’ and be hands on in their day-to-day activities.

What You Will Do

• Assign graphic designers to current and future projects – balancing workloads, resolving resource conflicts, and coordinating with other teams
• Build strong rapport with members of the department you support, in addition to partnering with functional and operations leadership and/or key vendor contacts
• Constantly seek to improve processes and template standardization
• Follow project from concept to final approval ensuring integrity of creative concept is kept in focus throughout
• Execute top quality design work in line with The Bay’s standards across a variety of mediums that support The Bay’s marketing efforts
• Use effective time management and organizational skills to maintain effective workflow and meet deadlines
• Assist other designers with projects as required
• Participate constructively in content brainstorms, work sessions, and planning
• Design emails, social posts, site banners, print and ad materials to support HBC across channels
• Ensure proper sign off process-proofreads and verifies content & specs for all projects assigned
• Ensure creative/concept transfers effectively into French language and Bilingual versions
• Solve creative and communicative issues based on brief
• Work effectively with outside suppliers such as photographers and printers when required

What You Will Need

• A degree in Graphic Design – or an equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job
• 3+ years of experience in production design in a marketing or agency environment
• Strong knowledge of digital processes & creative process (particularly in areas such as creative strategy, content design, product design and creative production – including files, formats, and best practices)
• Knowledge of pre-press file preparation – including font management and support file links a plus
• Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud on Mac platform
• Strong time management skills
• Branding experience (icon development, logo development)
• Proven ability to produce high quality creative work and an acute understanding of design, including typography and layout
• Proven ability to work in a fluid environment
• Ability to understand complex project requirements, and recognize potential risks and dependencies relevant to resourcing
• Exceptional attention to the detail
• Great communication and organizational skills
• Collaborative, creative problem solver with an entrepreneurial spirit
