Hudson’s Bay Company Hiring for Senior Tax Analyst at Toronto, Ontario Full Time

Day in the Life:

Reporting to the Manager of Income Tax, the Senior Tax Analyst will assist in matters relating to tax compliance, tax provision and special projects with the overall goal of effectively managing the income tax function within the organization. The successful candidate must possess excellent analytical and interpersonal skills and be able to work independently and together with the tax team n a complex environment with a confident, hands-on approach.

What You Will Do:

• Prepare corporation tax returns (T2), partnership tax returns, trust tax returns (T3), charity information returns (T3010), T4A-NR/NR4 information returns for various HBC entities
• Prepare foreign reporting information returns (Form T106, T1134, T1135, etc) and assist in analysis relating to international tax issues (e.g. withholdings taxes, FAPI analysis and surplus calculations)
• Prepare various other tax and information returns (T3, T5013, NR4, T4A-NR, etc)
• Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual corporate income tax provision under ASC 740, valuation allowance, return to provision adjustment and tax note disclosure
• Research and assist on income tax issues as assigned, by examining tax legislation, tax publications and tax court cases
• Research and analyze various ad hoc tax situations
• Assist with CRA tax audit queries, as assigned
• Assist with process improvements by building efficiencies through automation or streamlining
• Assist with non-routine projects and tasks, as assigned
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax legislative developments
• Assist the tax team with other planning and compliance work as needed

What You Will Need:

• Bachelor’s Degree and working towards an accounting designation such as CPA
• 3+years direct income tax experience, preferably with a large accounting firm or industry
• Working towards CICA CPA In-Depth income tax course or MTAX program
• Strong accounting and tax research skills
• Strong excel based skills and ERP system experience is a plus
• Analytical and detail-oriented;
• Proactive and works independently;
• Results oriented, must be willing to take ownership of all assigned responsibilities
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
