What This Position Is All About:

The Director of Networking will lead a team that is responsible for the planning, monitoring, and operational health of the data communication network for Hudson Bay. This includes cloud networks, SDN, sd-wan, corporate networks, store connectivity, and the telephony platform. The role will require both technical and people leadership skills. You will partner with the VP of infrastructure to drive the technical vision of the Networking Infrastructure through planning, collaboration, and implementation. This role will be instrumental in helping to drive the long term digital networking roadmap for Hudson Bay. 

As part of the Infrastructure Leadership team, you will be asked to actively coach engineers to discover where and how they can develop, while also ensuring they have their required resources and are working toward defined goals. You will act collaboratively, working with not only your peers but the people who report to you. We ask that the teams act as both owners and arbiters of the technology they manage.

Your Team

The Network and Telecommunications Organization manages the day to day maintenance and operations of the entire Hudson Bay Network. They are responsible for the data network and manage change through infrastructure as code tooling. The networking team will partner with architecture to assess and implement new communication technologies. They will also work with engineering teams to ensure all project networking requirements are met and implemented. The team will be required to ensure their knowledge of all related networking and telecommunications technology is maintained while accumulating new skills for future technology.

You Also Have:

• 5+ years of experience in technology leadership positions with an emphasis on networking services.
• Extensive knowledge of Cloud networking technologies (AWS and Azure preferred)
• Extensive experience managing switching and routing technologies
• Experience designing and supporting the network infrastructure of a production e-commerce site
• Strong knowledge of multi-network configurations, communication, and management
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code tooling and code management
• A strong technical background as a data or voice network engineer
• A commitment to managing infrastructure through code 
• Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging technologies and the ability to apply those technologies to business needs
• Demonstrated administrative, financial, and vendor management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal skills 
• The ability to collaborate with and absorb information from your team and translate that into business needs. 
• Management experience involving project management, planning, and preparing cost project estimate, budget oversight and development
• A demonstrated ability to manage multiple technical projects with a high degree of detail while working within the confines of set requirements and deadlines

As The Director, Networking You Will:

• Partner with infrastructure leadership to develop the technology vision and strategy for Hudson’s Bay’s digital network infrastructure
• Conduct strategic and tactical level planning in partnership with peers in IT to develop technical roadmap, and ensure delivery of supportable technology solutions that meet business needs.
• Build and manage a best-in-class networking team and infrastructure
• Partner with the Network Architect on all technology initiatives
• Ensure the team is held accountable for the operational health of the network
• Ensure that the network team remain subject matter experts for their technology
• Maintain vendor relationships
• Manage operational availability of the team
• Delegate to and collaborate with the team 
• Manage the operational support of the digital network infrastructure
• Provide regular employee feedback and performance reviews
• Think strategically and maintain an efficient operating model

• Design, maintain, and enhance data networks for stores, corporate offices, cloud providers, call centers, and data centers 
• Ensure the network infrastructure is highly available and fault tolerant
• Provide implementation support for projects
• Create a level of transparency for all networking activity through operational dashboarding 
• Maintain and enforce ownership of infrastructure changes
• Manage telephony technology such as Zoom, inContact, and Avaya
• Process/Tool Optimization: Lead complete process reviews & implementation of changes 
• Architect and sustain a secure enterprise wireless infrastructure
