The client

My client is a NFP who is focussed on the research, development, science, and innovation of some of the most truly amazing studies and ‘finds’ in the world right now and they are looking for someone who would like to be a part of this passion and thirst for knowledge and solution.

The primary purpose of this role:

This role is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Financial Controller and other managers within this organisation, in all financial related matters to assist in ensuring the smooth operation of the finance function.

Some of the key areas of responsibility include Payroll, Accounts Payable & Inventory, General Ledger as well as the other duties such as:

• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for all areas of the job and cross train other Finance Officer on all aspects of the job with agreed timeframes
• Provide high quality, prompt advice to managers and staff on finance policies, processes and queries
• Assist the Financial Controller with ad-hoc tasks, compliance processes including FBT/GST, BAS , PAYG preparation, audit support, asset management and other processes as necessary
• Input and reconcile annual budget in financial system
• Actively participate in Finance projects as required by FC and Chief Operating Officer
• Assist FC with continual process improvement
• Other administrative and accounts duties as required by the Financial Controller
• Provide relief when other members of the finance team are on leave to ensure the smooth operation of the finance function of the organisation

About you

Ideally you will have a tertiary qualification in accounting however you will definitely have the following recent and proven experience:

• A minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in a finance/accounting role managing receivables, payables and general ledger
• A demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of accounts to trial balance

• Ability to demonstrate initiative, flexibility and attention to detail in a busy, changing work environment

• Ability to plan and organise work schedule and work within timelines
• Ability to provide high-calibre customer service
• Ability to work to a high degree of professional integrity and confidentiality
• Ability to produce quality work with a high degree of accuracy
• Experience with the Microsoft office 2007/2010 suite of products and, and a minimum of intermediate Excel 2007/2010
• Experience with financial management software – Business Central is highly desirable
