About our client

Our client, a large state government department are seeking a confident and capable Senior Finance Advisor to join them on a temporary 6-month basis, with extensions potentially available.

The department provides intelligence, educative, scientific and technical investigations and a regulatory compliance framework aimed at ensuring the integrity of all persons involved with the project.

About the role

This is a hybrid role which will encompass both financial and management accounting duties, providing variety and diversity in your tasks. You’ll utilise your strong accounting knowledge and understanding of government processes to add value quickly.

Key deliverables for this role include:

• Co-ordination and preparation of monthly and financial year end accounting processes, including the general ledger reconciliations in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and Queensland Government Financial Reporting Requirements.
• Preparation of the Commission’s annual operating budget, including ongoing and forecasting.
• Provide focussed financial management and performance information and high-level financial analysis to management and stakeholders.
• Supervision and training to support staff within the team as required.
• Ensure all non-compliance issues are reported promptly in accordance with legislative requirements.

What you’ll need to succeed

You’ll be a seasoned accounting professional with experience hitting the ground running and quickly picking up new processes and procedures.

In addition to this you’ll ideally have the following:

• Degree qualified with CA/CPA certification
• Prior experience working within a government environment
• Available with short notice period for contracting opportunities
