HubSpot Hiring for Staff Software Engineer, FinTech at Toronto, ON Full Time

It’s been a successful journey. We have over 140K paying customers, $1.3B in annually recurring revenue and are growing 40% year over year. Every single one of these paying customers and every dollar comes through the FinTech Product Group.

The FinTech Product group is responsible for the entire end to end billing experience for 100% of our paying customers. This means building Product to allow customers to buy, purchase, pay, and manage their account with us. We’re also responsible for the core infrastructure and platform that powers this entire experience.

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help us build the next generation of Pricing & Packaging infrastructure used by Engineering teams across HubSpot.

The Staff role is intended to recognize engineers who are highly productive, impactful engineers who have deep mastery of technical skills. They make up ~5% of the engineering population and have a history of developing solutions to problems that have had an outsized impact on their organization’s business goals.

The types of problems you’ll be working on in this role include solving complex Pricing & Packaging problems, such as how we provision our products and features and how we ensure that customers’ product and feature set match what they pay for consistently as we add new ways of pricing & packaging our products for our customers. P&P is one of our most strategic and impactful areas and this team will have a tremendous impact on HubSpot as it grows towards $10B+ in revenue.

We’re looking for someone who:
Has enough experience to develop the requisite skills, autonomy, and mastery to consistently achieve the productivity and results expected in the Staff position

Has a history of building Infrastructure/platform that supports Product teams

Can give examples of consistently demonstrating strong ownership of projects end to end, track record of successfully rolling out infrastructure, collaborating with multiple Engineering teams to deliver successful solutions

Can give examples of designing robust data models to represent complex domain data that scales effectively as use cases evolve

Knows how to build API’s for Product teams and how to iterate on them to account for ever evolving use cases of the HubSpot Customer

Builds strong partnerships with the Engineering Manager to set a high bar for technical excellence on the team: specifically how the team collaborates on strong system and solution design, partnering with the team to drive high quality and productivity

Embodies customer centricity – you demonstrate a strong ability to understand the customer, their use cases, understand a complex FinTech domain and advocate for simple solutions
