Role : Research Engineer ( Engines & Machinery)

Job Description

– Responsible for developing, conducting, analyzing, and managing engine structures & dynamics validation tests using Caterpillar standards & technologies. Validation will be of engine components and systems for Large Power Systems Division (LPSD). Candidate must be able to evaluate complex structural failure modes and provide technical guidance/expertise to drive NTI, NPI, and CPI product solutions.

– Utilizing data acquisition systems (eDAQ, LMS, cDAQ), analyzing data (linear vibration, stress/strain, ME-SCOPE, LMS), performing modal testing, coordination of design and procurement of prototype hardware, and setting up test (instrumentation & gaging as appropriate).

Education & Experience Required:

(Required)

– Four-year Engineering degree and experience in any of the following areas: structural dynamics/vibration, NVH testing, structural simulation

(Preferred)

– BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with working experience in dynamics, vibrations, or modal testing

– 3+ years of engine development and testing experience

Technical Skills

(Required)

– Basic understand of internal combustion engines & machinery

(Desired)

Understanding structural dynamics/vibration, NVH testing, structural simulation

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $70.00 – $75.00 per year
