The Measurement and Technology Solutions (MTS) tooling group is a horizontal workgroup in Corvallis, OR. We enable the growth of HP businesses by developing robust and cost-efficient measurement platforms and solutions which provide the right data for decision making to innovate technology, advance product capabilities and manufacture quality products. Our tooling includes the mechanical, electrical, vision, pen drive and software systems to provide a fully functional solution for our worldwide customers.

The MTS Tooling Controls Software Engineer develops code for industrial test equipment, motion controllers, sensors and vision systems. They integrate diverse systems from different vendors using network communications protocols and industry-standard field busses. Works with large legacy codebases in C#, knowledge of Python a plus. Works on problems at both detail and system integration level. May act as a leader of small, ad-hoc project teams for specific solutions. Ability to handle most unique situations. May seek advice in order to make decisions on complex

business issues.

Responsibilities

• Develops and debugs C# code for lab and manufacturing equipment
• Researches and specifies automation and controls equipment
• Works with internal customers to automate experiments and collect test data
• Designs, codes, and integrates based on general objectives, user stories, and knowledge of overall architecture of product or solution.
• Writes and executes test plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and fixes bugs, and creates solutions for integration issues
• Guides ad-hoc project teams created for specific sub-projects.
• Collaborates and communicates with management, working group, and development partners regarding software applications design status, project progress, and issue resolution.

Education and Experience Required

Knowledge and Skills

• Understanding and familiarity with common process control sensors: Digital and analog inputs and outputs
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Software applications testing methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with outsource vendors and management
