Are you looking for a part time role (14 hours/Wednesdays and Thursday) working within education? We have a very exciting role where the postholder will work in the UK Parliament Education Centre. The Centre is a cutting-edge, dynamic, and stimulating destination for young people and teachers; somewhere that creates a unique learning experience, distinct from the school classroom environment, which generates a sense of anticipation in groups entering the space and from which groups depart feeling inspired and excited about their parliament.

The Team

The Education and Engagement Officer role sits within the Education and Engagement Team who deliver face-to-face and online educational programmes and learning resources for schools, teachers, home educators and school-age children across the UK.

Our well-established public engagement activities continue to expand. Over 2 million people participate in outreach and engagement activities across the UK through workshops, events and the annual UK Parliament Week. A further 500,000 directly engage in activities at Parliament, including through tours of the Palace of Westminster and school workshops in our world-class Education Centre.

The Role

The Education and Engagement officer responsibility will be to deliver high quality and engaging face to face and virtual tours of the palace of Westminster and workshops across the formal learning age range for all UK schools, supporting subjects such as Citizenship, History and Government and Politics (or their equivalent). The postholder will also support the operations of the Education Centre and the work of the Education and Engagement Service as a whole, including bookings and general administration. The post holder will also work together with the Resource and Content Team to create and review any new and existing programme delivered by the Education Centre Team. They will also assist with training of colleagues learning to deliver different Educational programmes.

Candidate requirements

We expect the successful postholder to be able to demonstrate the following on their application form:

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and impartially
• Experience of engaging with or delivering to young audiences, upholding the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Experience of delivering excellent customer service in a pressurised visitor environment
