HopeTree Family Services Hiring for Education Assessment Coordinator Job at Roanoke, VA Full Time

HopeTree Family Services is actively seeking a full time Education Assessment Coordinator for our Academy. HopeTree Academy offers residential and day-school services to a wide cross-section of alternative and special education students throughout the Roanoke Valley and the Commonwealth. Licensed by the Virginia Department of Education we are currently providing services to youth grades 7-12.

Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong leadership skills. The Education Assessment Coordinator will provide leadership and perform a variety of assessment activities with residents and day students who attend HopeTree Academy. The individual will consult with teaching staff, the IEP Coordinator, and Residential Behavior Specialist related to initial assessments, SOL and GED testing results in order to optimize their educational effectiveness with students. Salary is competitive and commensurate to education and years of experience.

Job Responsibilities

1. Knowledge of Virginia’s Standards of Learning Assessment Program.

2. Attend School Testing Coordinator (STC) trainings with district localities and order SOL tests as required, and coordinate SOL scheduling.

3. Process confidential data and information according to guidelines.

4. Support the technology initiative within HopeTree Academy through Google Classroom and other digital platforms.

5. Complete Initial Assessment for newly enrolled students within 30 days to follow VAISEF guidelines.

6. Review student files and student assessment data.

7. Administer the Woodcock Johnson Assessment for newly enrolled students within the appropriate time frames.

8. Provide assistance with topics related to federal, state, and local assessments.

9. Create matrix of IEP accommodations for SOL testing in coordination with the IEP Coordinator.

10. Create SOL tracking for student electronic transcripts

11. Collaborate and work in a professional manner with Academy leadership team, Clinical team, and other HopeTree departments.

12. Provide leadership in accordance with HopeTree’s mission and core values.

13. Performs other duties as assigned.

14. Teach classes as needed.

16. All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in education; preferably a Master’s degree in special education. A repertoire of effective student motivational and discipline techniques, skills, etc. for middle and secondary students is necessary. This professional must demonstrate excellent human relations and communication skills, qualities, etc. to optimize his/her work with all HopeTree Family Services’ leadership, parents, school agencies, localities and youth agencies in a positive manner throughout the Commonwealth.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $46,000.00 per year
