Job Description

The Biology Department at Hope College is seeking a Microbiologist
for an Assistant Professor position (non-tenure track) beginning
July 2023. The individual will be responsible for teaching lecture
and laboratory courses in microbiology to both majors and
non-majors. The individual should be able to teach an upper level
course in his or her area of expertise and/or able to teach in the
introductory biology courses to majors and/or non-majors. The
individual will be responsible for coordinating with other
microbiology lecture and lab instructors to ensure a consistent
student experience across multiple sections and semesters.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related field
with experience in undergraduate instruction of majors/non-majors
in microbiology. The ideal candidate should share a commitment to
liberal arts education in the context of the Christian faith.

Physical Demands

This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position
for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a
computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves moving
items over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different
offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication
abilities. In the case of temporary or permanent condition(s) that
