Luxury Bridal + Evening collection in need of Assistant Designer

The ideal candidate has to be extremely organized and detail oriented, excellent in communication and time management. Strong garment construction knowledge and experience in high-end woven development is required.  Made in NYC experience is a plus. Employment comes with standard PTO and health insurance. We are a small team and looking to fill the position immediately. Must be able to multi-task work with limited supervision. The company requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. 

Responsibilities include: 

• Manage and organize atelier supplies and stock all basic fabrics, linings and trims
• Source trims and linings in the garment district
• Create detail sheets for pattern makers and sewers with construction callouts and all relevant finishing details
• Design embroidery layouts and print placements
• Create layering swatches and sewing mock ups to help select final fabrics and linings
• Assist in development fittings by organizing development muslins from in house and outside development factories
• Creating development cut tickets based on cutters musts for muslins and final samples
• Create complete packages with all fabrics and trims for development for factories
• Communicate with factories and help troubleshoot any problems or shortages
• Maintain collection line sheet and update throughout development period
• Record yields from cutting to be used for costing
• Order and manage local embellishments/embroidery
• Receive fabric rolls, tag rolls with proper information, and help maintain studio inventory master sheet 

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

• BA or BS in Fashion Design; Preferable received from a design oriented university.
• Fundamental knowledge of garment construction
• Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator on MAC
