At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work. The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday. However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex-time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.

Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home for a maximum of 50% of the working days in any one month, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.

Role

We currently have 3 finance roles available: 2 positions in Honda Motor Europe Ltd (HME) Business Administration and 1 position in Honda Finance Europe (HFE).

The roles are based within the commercial accounting function of the Finance team, providing support with reporting, analysis and budgeting for the Car, Parts, Motorcycle and Power Equipment P&Ls and also providing exposure to other areas of Finance including Tax, Treasury, and Audit. The roles not only provide a great understanding of what a Finance department in a Multi-national company does, but allows you to gain first-hand experiences of Reconciliations, Journals, Budgeting and Profit/Cost analysis.

The roles will be responsible for performing key accounting tasks such as balance sheet reconciliations and cost centre manager business partnering, whilst also allowing the individuals to get involved in commercial planning strategy analysis including Market Analysis and Marketing Campaign Costing.

The Finance department has a number of projects which require financial assistance and data analysis. We require pro-active, self-motivated and flexible individuals who are able to assist the commercial accountants with delivering work to support these projects.

These are wide ranging roles and will provide good exposure to the entire Finance department. As such, it will be most suited to somebody who thinks that they may wish to pursue a career in finance after graduation and would like to explore the different options available.

The assessment day will be held on the 29th November and will require the candidate to be available all day.

Main Responsibilities

• Assisting with month end routines, including file set-up and the accurate preparation, and posting of journals into accounting systems (liaising with the Shared Service Centres in Poland and India in the process).
• Detailed Balance Sheet reconciliation
• Assist with cost centre accounting and reporting
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting
• Liaise with the Risk and Control department with Internal SOX Audits
• Exposure to accounts receivable activities
• Data analysis for the Finance Managers
• Assist with ad hoc project work in the finance area

Qualifications, skills and experience: Required/Desirable

Required

• Must be an undergraduate, undertaking a relevant business degree or interested in developing a career in Finance, looking for a placement in their third year of study
• Enthusiastic, with a ‘can do’ attitude
• Attention to detail and accuracy is essential, as is the ability to meet agreed deadlines
• Ability to adapt to changing demands and conditions
• A self-starter who works well both individually and as part of a team
• Advanced Excel skills preferred (ideally to include VLOOKUP and pivot tables)
• Basic PowerPoint and Word knowledge

Desirable

• Knowledge of SAP and Oracle Hyperion Planning would be an advantage, but full training will be given so experience of these applications is not essential
